Port Elizabeth police are searching for a suspect involved in two serious incidents in which a woman was fatally wounded and another man robbed in Missionvale early on Saturday morning.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says in the first incident, a woman was woken up by the sound of gunshots and noticed her cousin, 32-year old Chantelle Oliphant lying next to the window.
She says an unknown man, wearing dark shoes with white stripes, dark pants and a dark jacket was searching the victim.
He then took her bottle of liquor and ran towards Arkansas Street.
Oliphant died on the scene.
Naidu says minutes later, a man was approached by the same suspect, who allegedly tried to rob him at gunpoint.
A struggle ensued and the complainant managed to overpower and disarm the suspect.
During the scuffle, a shot went off and the suspect ran away.
Colonel Naidu says police confiscated a dark blue Puma takkie (one shoe) with white stripes, a 9mm pistol (serial no filed off), three cellphones and two bottles of liquor.
Cases of murder, attempted murder and attempted armed robbery are being investigated.
