The National Sea Rescue Institute says a woman was found drowned off the Port St Johns coast in the Eastern Cape on Sunday.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon says they launched their rescue craft early in the afternoon after receiving unconfirmed reports of three people being swept out to sea by rip
currents at Second Beach.
During a search, the body of an 18-year-old woman was found floating in the water.
Lambinon said unconfirmed reports suggested one person might have gotten out of the water unassisted but no one had verified this.
