An American citizen who was employed as a trauma counsellor in Port Elizabeth, has drowned at Pollok Beach.
Police spokesperson, Stanley Jarvis, says a group of people went for a walk on the beach when the 43-year-old woman went for a swim at about six o'clock last night and got into difficulties.
She was brought ashore by a member of the NSRI and despite efforts by paramedics to resusitate her, she was declared dead on the scene a short while later.
The deceased has been identified as Kimberley Grason, who was employed by the Maranatha youth centre in Forest Hill.
