An East London woman has been arrested for trying to bribe a police officer in order to quash a case.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais, says the 43-year-old woman was arrested last month for selling liquor without a licence.
She allegedly contacted Warrant Officer James Louw and offered him three-thousand rand in exchange for the disappearance of the docket.
Marais says Louw then contacted the Organised Crime Unit, before pretending to be interested in the transaction.
The woman arrived at the police station with the money today, and was arrested moments after counting it out on the warrant officer's desk.
She is in custody and will appear in court tomorrow on charges of corruption and bribery.
