An elderly woman and a nine-year-old child were killed in an accident on the R-75 near the Kariega River Bridge on Monday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said two others were injured in the single-vehicle accident.
She said a family of four was returning from Gauteng to Jeffreys Bay when the 67-year-old female driver lost control of her Mazda 2 vehicle.
Naidu said the car left the road and landed in an open field.
She said the 91-year-old mother of the driver, Emma Jacobs, and 11-year-old Misha Beukes, died on the scene.
Naidu said the driver and another granddaughter were taken to the hospital prior to police arrival.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
