The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed the re-arrest of another rhino poacher who escaped from the Waainek Correctional Centre in Makhanda last October.
Department spokesperson, Singabhako Nxumalo, said Abraham Moyane, was rearrested in the Eastern Cape by police.
According to police he was spotted jumping over a fence at a private game reserve near Makhanda.
He also had hunting equipment with him.
He was part of a group of seven convicted rhino poachers who sawed through the bars of their cell at the Correctional Centre to make their daring escape on 18 October last year.
Moyane’s arrest brings to three the number of escapees back behind bars.
Bennet Kwarrie was recaptured in Bloemfontein on the same day of the escape, while Simba Masinga was back in custody on the 20th of that month after being found in the Committees Drift area.
Nxumalo said the hunt for the remaining four, Trymore Chauke, Francis Chito, Nhamo Muyanbo, and Luvuyo September, is continuing.
Moyane is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
