With the last race meeting at the Arlington Racecourse having taken place last Friday, the focus is now on the future of the land.
Metrominute reports that the land has been earmarked as one possibility for future housing development for residents of Walmer Township.
A recent report said that Phumelela Gaming and Leisure had put a R50 million price tag on the land following completing of the construction of an all-weather track at Fairview.
According to the publication, council has yet to decide which land to purchase with other options being an area adjacent to the Walmer Country Club and another part of the Madiba Bay land that is owned by the munici-pality.
The Walmer Country Club itself is no longer an option due to the cost involved.
