Gqeberha police are investigating a double-murder following a shooting in Motherwell on Monday night.
Captain Andre Beetge says 29-year-old Siyabulela Olayi and his passenger 23-year-old Ulundi Mpulu died in a hail of bullets after the vehicle they were travelling in came under fire in Tyityaba Street in Motherwell.
Captain Beetge says another vehicle approached them from behind and the occupants then started shooting.
Olayi lost control of his car and collided with a container on the side of the road.
Captain Beetge says the suspects continued shooting before speeding away.
Olayi sustained several gunshots to his upper body and legs and died as he was been rushed to hospital.
Captain Beetge says Mpulu succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest shortly after arrival at a nearby hospital.
Tributes are already pouring in for Mpulu who was a well-known businessman in Motherwell.
He owned a restaurant called The Pallet Doctor in Motherwell which closed its doors for the day following the news of his passing.
