Well known Bay resident arrested for alleged assault

A well-known Gqeberha resident who formally clashed with the law spent the weekend behind bars following his arrest on Friday on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

In a now viral video, seen by Algoa FM News, the 38-year-old suspect is seen allegedly assaulting a 34-year-old man.

Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the incident took place in a parking lot in Hunters Retreat on Thursday.

The alleged victim opened up a case at the Kabega Park Police Station after the video went viral on WhatsApp.

The suspect may only be named once he appears in court.
