Eskom says the inclement weather conditions, characterised by gale force winds and snow, have disrupted electricity supply in several parts of the Eastern Cape.
Spokesperson, Zama Mpondwana, says about 5 000 customers in Port St Johns and 2 200 in Lady Free areas are currently affected.
He says Eskom technicians are working hard to restore electricity supply to the affected areas.
Mpondwana says Eskom's appealing to customers to treat all electrical connections, including low hanging or broken conductors, as live and dangerous.
