WC travellers arriving in EC test positive for COVID19

A total of 56 people travelling from Western Cape to the Eastern Cape have tested positive for COVID-19.

The EC Health Department says to date, 2 090 people who entered the Province have been tested for COVID19 over 29 500 were screened.

MEC Sindiswa Gomba expressed her concerned by the high number of people travelling from the Western Cape into this province.

Travellers entered the province at Tsitsikkamma and Aberdeen and were stopped at designated roadblocks.

According to the Department of Health, a total of 56 people who travelled from the WC into the EC tested positive for COVID19.

A grace period of seven days was allowed for people who needed to travel to their homes or who needed to report back to work under Level 4 restrictions.

Thursday is the last day where inter-provincial travelling will be allowed without a permit.

MEC Gomba says she's perplexed why they had not been tested before leaving the Western Cape.
