Warrant of arrest issued for Popcru's CEO

The Hawks in Gauteng have secured warrants of arrests for two men who allegedly conspired to kidnap and murder prominent and senior officials from the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU).

A Spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says they are looking for Popcru's CEO Zwelinkosi Reuben Mdletshe and Robert Sheriff.

He says a Lesotho national was arrested in Kempton Park earlier this month who is believed to be the middleman who was instructed by Mdletshe and Sheriff to source an assassin who would be paid a million rand to execute the hit.

Mulaudzi says this investigation commenced in September when it was revealed that there was apparent misappropriation of funds that were carried out through the Popcru Investment Group of companies from as far back as 2016.

It is alleged that Mdletshe and Sherrif wanted to silence those who wanted them to account for the funds.

Police have asked members of the public to be on the lookout for these two men and contact Sergeant Steve Ndabambi on 0825594613 or Captain Naborth Mavuso on 0824619486 if spotted.

The alleged middleman, the 34-year-old Neo Letele will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates court again on the 20th of November where he is expected to bring a formal bail application.
