Warning not to eat shellfish from ocean as Red Tide is spotted in Mossel Bay

The Mossel Bay Municipality has confirmed reports of red tides along its coastline.

Reports have also been received of harmful algal bloom over the last few days, especially in the Glentana and Little Brak River.

Residents are warned not to eat any shellfish directly from the ocean.

Red Tides are a natural phenomenon in coastal waters caused by a dense accumulation of microscopic algae.

It is expected to last for a few days.
