Warning issued after fake cops rob family near Mdantsane

Police in East London have issued a warning to community members to be cautious of police impersonators.

Spokesperson, Captain Nkosikho Mzuku, says the warning follows after three armed men claiming to be police officers kicked down the door of a house in Newlands just outside Mdantsane, in the early hours of Friday morning.

She says the unknown men then robbed the family of their cell phones, clothes and a plasma TV, worth an estimated total value of nearly R800 000.

She says anyone who may have information that can lead to the arrests of the suspects should contact their nearest police station.
