The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has condemned the vandalism of the War Memorial Statue in Uitenhage.
The statue was vandalised for the second time within the space of a few months on Monday when it was covered in white paint and names were painted on the tiles at its base.
Mayoral Committee member for Youth, Arts & Culture, councillor Andiswa Mama, said they condemn the vandalism in the strongest possible terms.
He said he had an open door to anyone who wishes to discuss areas of heritage, arts and culture and that no one has to resort to the defacing of any memorial sites for any reason.
Mama added that anyone caught and found to be breaking the law would be dealt with in terms of the criminal justice system.
