WANTED: Karoo Stock thief evading arrest for 24 years

An old photo of Piet Jaftha

SAPS

A man accused of stock theft in Central Karoo has been evading police for 24 years.

Police Spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says Piet Jaftha, who should now be 51-year-old, disappeared a day before his court appearance in July of 1998.

He says Jaftha used to live in Louis Fleur Street in Richmond but was never seen again.

The Murraysburg Magistrates court issued a warrant for his arrest 24 years ago.

Anyone who knows Jaftha's whereabouts is requested to contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Roberto Johnson who is stationed at the Beaufort West Stock Theft Unit.

It is not yet clear how many animals Jaftha allegedly stole and questions to SAPS have gone unanswered.
