Management at Walter Sisulu University has withdrawn their court case against its striking staff members.
The current labour strike has crippled operations at the university since July, 23rd.
Over 21 000 students have had no classes for four weeks and the consequence of ‘no work, no pay’ is in full force.
WSU spokesperson Angela Church says they have asked staff to accept a 4.25% pensionable salary increase for 2013, backdated to January, while employees are seeking 8 percent.
"We will lift the lock out clause and implement the payment of staff who agree firstly the accept the 4.25% wage increase and secondly to agree to the leave clause as was discussed by labour. If we get sufficient staff responding and wanting to come back to work we can then comment with classes" Church said.
