The Walter Sisulu University has confirmed that it has lost its LLB accreditation effective from 2019.
This, after receiving a letter from the Council on Higher Education, confirming the decision on Friday.
Walter Sisulu University spokesperson, Yonela Tukwayo, says next year will be the last year that they take in LLB students at the first-year level.
She says they will have to complete the current teaching period to allow those already reading for the LLB degree to complete their studies and graduate.
"When they do graduate, those qualifications will be valid and they can go on to find jobs based on the certificates that they will receive whether they graduate in 2020/21/22. We are working on an improved programme within WSU to offer a law programme that is a lot more robust than what we currently have, but what we do have at the moment will allow our students to graduate" she said.
