A small group of employees embarked on a lunch time demonstration at the Volkswagen South Africa plant in Uitenhage on Wednesday.
VWSA communications manager, Matt Gennrich says the group belong to an informal staff association, with which the company has been consulting with for the past few months.
He says the association is unhappy that staff received CPI based increases, whilst hourly rated employees - through national motor industry wage negotiations - have received increases well above the inflation rate.
Gennrich says staff are paid a market related salary based on national salary surveys.
He says these surveys benchmark VWSA jobs against jobs in the motor manufacturing industry as well as similar jobs in other industries to ensure the company pay a competitive salary and package.
Gennrich says in addition, increases are based on personal performance.
