ANC National spokesperson Zizi Kodwa, says government is concerned about the continuous pattern of decline in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality
He was speaking at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday about the ruling party's intention to strengthen and capacitate local government.
Kodwa said government had seen instability within the metro over a period of time where mayors have been changed.
He said there were issues that communities had raised that needed to be attended to first.
The leadership is now ready to come back, but there are issues that communities have raised that we must attend to before we go back- so we can give feedback. The issue of housing is very clear in the entire municipality, the issue of water, the issue of sanitation. Coupled with that is the overall issue of unemployment in the region. I we don't come back with explanation on these issues we don't think it would be fair to those people." says Kodwa.
