Violent history of PE assault accused laid bare

A well known Port Elizabeth businessman who was arrested this week for allegedly assaulting his now ex-girlfriend was found guilty of assault more than seven years ago in 2013.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the suspect was arrested and charged for assaulting a male employee and was sentenced to 60 days in prison or a fine of R600.

This past weekend, a local presenter on Port Elizabeth Christian Radio Station PE FM laid a charge of assault after she was violently beaten last Friday.

The 25-year-old Josca Human has since gone for a doctors’ check-up where it was confirmed that she suffered a broken a rib in the attack in which she also sustained numerous facial injuries.

Colonel Naidu says this is not the first woman to lay a charge of assault against the well-known PE businessman.

In September of 2017, his then-girlfriend laid a charge of assault but it was later withdrawn.

The suspect will appear in court next Tuesday for the alleged assault on Human.

The 33-year-old is currently out on bail of R500 after he was charged in the presence of his lawyer at a police station in the city on Tuesday night.
