The 73-year-old John Doch who went missing 20 days ago.

SAPS

It has been 20 days since an elderly Covid-19 patient walked out of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium where he was under quarantine.

The whereabouts of 73-year-old John Doch remain a mystery.

Port Elizabeth police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says a private security company notified them of a body lying on an unused railway track in Old Grahamstown Road in Deal Party on Sunday.

Police initially thought that the victim might be Doch as he fitted the description, with the exception of the clothes he was wearing.

Colonel Naidu says Doch's family in Graaff Reinet was notified and they have since confirmed that the victim was not their missing family member.

Police have now asked members of the public to come forward to help them identify the body.

The man, believed to be in his 60’s, was wearing a red shirt, brown jacket with white fur on the inside and beige pants. He was not wearing any shoes.

He may be either a coloured or a black male with an old scar on his nose.

Colonel Naidu says he was of average height and had a grey beard.

A yellow plastic shopping bag was found next to his body.
