Garden Route police have confirmed that the two women whose vehicle went over the cliff at Voëlklip in George on Saturday were from Gauteng.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the two women, both aged 75, were staying at a local guesthouse in Herolds Bay just days before the incident.
Police earlier confirmed that two firearms were found inside the wreckage but cannot at this stage confirm whether the weapons were used.
Spies says this will all form part of the investigation as well as the post mortems which still need to be conducted.
He says they are currently consulting with the family members of the victims and their names cannot yet be released to the public.
