Victim of latest Voëlklip tragedy identified

Police in Herold's Bay have identified the body of a woman who was discovered on the rocks at the bottom of Voëlklip on Wednesday morning.

Spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says family members identified her as the 52-year-old broker from George, Zoe Basson.

A preliminary investigation at this point indicates that a red Chevrolet Spark went over a cliff at Voëlklip at 9.30 pm on Tuesday night.

Police were notified and a search and rescue team was dispatched to the scene.

Spies says the wreckage of the car will not be brought to the surface.

No foul play is suspected.
