A veld fire is raging outside Port Elizabeth, casting a pall of smoke over the city.
The smoke is visible from the N2 bypass to the beachfront and beyond.
However, Police spokesperson, Captain Johann Rheeder, said there have been no reports of damage or threat to property.
A check with the Airports Company in Port Elizabeth has also revealed that no incoming or outgoing flights have been affected by the thick smoke.
