Police in Cradock are investigating a case of public violence and malicious damage to property following a service delivery protest on the N10.
Spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni says community members from Lingelihle and the Michausdal locality barricaded the N10 route towards Port Elizabeth as well as the R61 towards Tarkastad with burning tyres on Wednesday.
He says violent protesters set alight two trucks and a bakkie causing damage of over a million rand.
Tonjeni says the situation on the route remains tense and motorists are urged to use the Graaff-Reinet road.
