Vandals to blame for latest pipe burst in Gqeberha

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has issued a warning of possible water outages following a pipe burst on a bulk water pipeline in Motherwell.

A massive water "fountain" could be seen on Friday morning in NU29 wasting thousands of litres of water.

The Metro says this is a direct result of vandalism since a valve was stolen.

As a result, the water transfer in the Metro has been disrupted.

The pipeline has been isolated and Water & Sanitation teams are on the scene to start repairs.

It is envisaged that supply will be restored by late afternoon.

The following areas will be affected if storage is depleted:

Rowallan Park; Francis Evatt Park; Hunters Retreat; BayWest; Parsonsvlei / Westbrook; Morningside; Kabega Park; Sherwood; Westering; Cotswold; Helenvale; Malabar; Parts of Schauderville; Framesby; Sunridge Park; Parts of Lorraine; Parts of Theescombe and Kamma Park.
