Valuable mountain bikes stolen from shop in Walmer

The S-Works line of Specialized: Twitter

Seven valuable mountain bikes were stolen during a housebreaking at Action Cycles in Heugh Road, Walmer, on Wednesday night.

Action Cycles is the agent in Nelson Mandela Bay for the top-end Specialized brand of mountain bikes and road bikes.

Captain Andre Beetge says a security company responding to an alarm being activated on the premises made the discovery of the break-in and alerted police.

It appears that the thieves gained entrance through a front window and made off with seven expensive mountain bikes worth an estimated R400 000 in total.

Captain Beetge said the police are urging the community, especially second-hand dealers, to be on the lookout for anyone attempting to sell the bicycles.

He warned that buying stolen property could land the buyers in hot water and even lead to criminal prosecution.

Anyone who may be able to assist in this investigation is asked to contact the detective branch at the Walmer Police Station.
