A vagrant from Port Elizabeth was stabbed to death over a jacket on Monday morning.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that two vagrants were arguing in Marine Drive at about 4.30 am.
Witnesses say the argument was over a jacked which the deceased was wearing.
Naidu says the argument became physical and the suspect stabbed the victim several times.
He died on the scene and the suspect fled with the jacket.
The identities of both the victim and the suspect are unknown at this stage.
Police are investigating a murder.
