Gqeberaha police have confiscated an Uzi machine gun in a raid on a property in Kwazkahele, one of three firearms seized yesterday.
Police spokesperson, Colone Priscilla Naidu, said the weapons were recovered during an intelligence-driven operation by members of the Public Order Policing Unit.
She said they breached a flatlet at the back of a house Seyisi Steet, by breaking the lock "as information indicated that no one was living there but firearms are kept at the place."
Naidu said upon searching the place, three firearms, an Uzi, a revolver, and a Baby Browning were found as well as 88 rounds of ammunition.
She said the serial numbers on two of the firearms were filed off, while ownership of the third firearm is yet to be established.
Naidu said in the last three months Gqeberha police recovered 150 firearms in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
