Upgrade on N2 between Grahamstown and Fish could start soon

Work on upgrading the 47-kilometre stretch of the N-2 between Grahamstown and the Fish River Pass, could get underway as early as September this year.
The Basic Assessment Report on the project has been completed ahead of submission to the National Department of Environmental Affairs.
And according to Metrominute, the work will cost R900 million and is expected to create 360 new employment opportunities during the construction phase at a cost of around R36 million.
The upgrading of the road is expected to take about six to seven years and will be conducted in three phases.
The Basic Assessment Report points out that the upgrading “will improve the level of service of the road to cater for increased traffic volumes over the next 25 years.
