The Amathole District’s Development Agency, Aspire, will officially launch the upgrading of the Stutterheim CBD on Saturday.
The upgrade is one of Aspire’s small towns regeneration endeavours, funded by the National Treasury’s Neighbourhood Development Partnership Grant.
Aspire says in a statement the revitalisation of Stutterheim is intended to increase the town’s magnificence for local residents and visitors, whilst also making it increasingly user friendly for pedestrians, vehicles and public transport.
It says the CBD upgrade is linked to other regeneration activities, which include the construction of the Cumakala Bridge, and developments in Mlungisi Township aimed at adding community commercial facilities for public and private investments.
