Police in Gqeberha says a skeleton that was found at Sardinia Bay beach earlier this month was that of a man.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the skeleton was sent for forensic analysis and the report suggests that it was a man, approximately 40-years-old.
She says it is believed that the remains are very old and due to the exposure to the coastal environment, the age of the bones can only be determined with scientific testing.
Colonel Naidu says the skeleton will now be sent to the SAPS Forensic Science laboratory in Gauteng for an in-depth analysis.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help their inquiry.
The partially buried skeleton was discovered near the dunes of Sardinia Bay on the 19th of December 2021.
Naidu says there were no clothing or any other personal belongings nearby.
