Eastern Cape police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of five family members at Tshisane Locality in Tsolo.
Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says Wednesday's arrests followed after five members of one family, between the ages of 18 and 82, were shot and killed in their sleep on Tuesday night.
The motive for the incident is not known at this stage.
The arrested male suspects are aged between 22 and 32 and are believed to be from the same locality where the incident occurred.
They are expected to appear before the Tsolo Magistrate's Court on Friday on charges of murder.
Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, hailed the work of the detectives in the swift arrest of the four men within 24 hours of the incident.
“I stated that we shall not rest until the perpetrators of these devastating killings are found and indeed we have found them, I am satisfied,” she concluded.
