Unknown person found burnt beyond recognition in Bethelsdorp

Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of murder after the burnt body of an unknown person was discovered in Bethelsdorp on Monday.

Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says police responded to a complaint at Landon and Wellman Street in Extension 36 in the early hours of the morning where community members pointed out the body.

She says the person was burnt beyond recognition.

Any person who could help in identifying the deceased is asked to contact SAPS.

The circumstances and motive surrounding the death are unknown.
