Besmed Ambulance Services

Nelson Mandela Bay Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a head-on collision on the R75 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that a white Mercedes-C-class was travelling on the wrong side of the road when it collided head-on with a Renault Kwid.

She says the accident took place just after 3 am near St Leonards and Uitenhage Roads.

Colonel Naidu says as a result of the impact, the Renault Kwid burst into flames killing the driver.

She says the male driver is unknown at this stage.

The driver of the Mercedes and his two passengers were already en route to a hospital when police arrived on the scene.

The scene was attended to by Algoa Park police.
