Port Elizabeth police have asked the public's assistance in identifying a man whose body has been lying in a state mortuary for more than three years.
Spokesperson, warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu, says it appears that the man had drowned in the Swartkops River in the Redhouse area.
His body was found on the 28th of June 2012 - but no-one has claimed it yet and it has been in the New Brighton morgue ever since.
Gwavu says the man was wearing a blue T-shirt, a blue long-sleeve top and a blue-ish pajama short with pictures of boats and aeroplanes on it.
He has called on relatives or the community to contact the police.
In another case where police have been unable to identify a body retreived from the Swartkops river, they have appealed for help in identifying the person.
The man's body was found in Amsterdamhoek on te 21st of February.
He was wearing a yellow shirt, denim jacket, yellow-green tracksuit top, a blue tracksuit pants and white running shoes.
The man had an old operation scar on his stomach.
A third body found in the Swartkops river is also baffling police.
The naked body of an unknown man was found at the Swartkops bridge on Sunday.
The case of yet another body Warrant Officer Gwavu has appealed for assistance with, is that from a woman of about 35 years old.
It was found on the corner of Mpehla Street and Addo Road in Motherwell, also on Sunday.
Gwavu said it was suspected that the woman had been raped, and that she was murdered elsewhere and her body dumped at the scene.
