A Uitenhage woman accused of fraud and theft involving more than R670 000 has been sentenced in the Port Elizabeth commercial crimes court.
Michelle Van Dyk was sentenced on Wednesday to 8 years imprisonment, two years of which were suspended for five years.
According to the state, she had pleaded guilty to stealing money from a company for which she provided book-keeping services between May and October 2010.
In a separate matter last year, she threatened to bring a civil suit against the Eastern Cape Department of Health.
This followed a ruling made in the city's magistrates court that no one could be held responsible for the death of her 19-year-old son Edward Van Dyk in Livingston Hospital.
