Eastern Cape police are investigating cases of attempted hijacking and murder, after a taxi driver was shot and killed during a suspected hijacking in Uitenhage on Friday evening.
Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei says the incident took place at around 8 o'clock, after the taxi driver picked up two men in KwaNobuhle.
He says as they approached a bridge near Uitenhage, the two ordered the driver to pull over and stop the vehicle.
Seekoei says the driver ignored the order, and one of the suspects pulled out a firearm.
He says the taxi driver was hit in the waist, and he died at the scene.
