Port Elizabeth police say the shooting death of a 35-year old man in Gelvendale on Friday evening, led to Saturday morning's protest by angry residents of the city's northern areas.
Spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg says three men shot the victim, and fled the scene.
She says the incident was not gang related.
Janse van Rensburg says residents are angry over the continued crime in the area, as well as the lack of street lighting.
She said around 400 residents bariccaded Stanford Road and Windvogel Street with stones on Saturday morning, but the situation returned to normal during the day, and all roads were opened to traffic.
