Uitenhage tavern owner shot and killed

The 60 year-old owner of Ngqula's tavern in Mabandla Road, Kwanabuhle, has been shot and killed in an armed robbery.

Uitenhage police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart, says the 4 armed robbers struck at midday on Wednesday, shooting the tavern owner outside his vehicle.
He died on the scene.

Swart says the robbers took a bag containing cash, the deceased's .38 revolver and wallet and fled in two vehicles.

A case of murder and armed robbery is being investigated.
