Angry parents are planning to gather in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage today, to shut down a crumbling building used as a school for more than 1100 learners.
Former learner at Solomon Mahlangu High, Thamsanqa Mbovane, said in a statement on Wednesday that for the past two years learners have been taught in a collapsing building, which is not only dangerous, but also harmful to their health and well- being.
He says there is a clean, newly- constructed Solomon Mahlangu High school that is ready to be occupied in nearby Jabavu Street.
Mbovane says the new school was constructed two years ago, and it was completed late last year, but the Department of Education has not yet delivered any furniture.
He says apparently, the Department is busy with the tender process for the transportation of furniture.
