State of the art fire tender for PE airport

The Airports Company South Africa has introduced a fleet of four Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 Fire Tenders valued at over R8-million each.

At a media briefing held on Wednesday at Port Elizabeth International Airport, Manager Azad Cassim said the vehicles would replace the old Buffalo type Fire Engines.

He said the PE Airport, Bram Fischer International Airport, East London and George Airports would each receive a vehicle.

"Our vehicles needed to be replaced so these vehicles are state of the art, very modern, they have full rescue capabilities with a water supply of 10 000 litres. They are high speed response vehicles." said Cassim.

Meanwhile, ACSA also handed over a R2.8-million cheque to the National Sea Rescue Institute.

NSRI CEO, Dr Cleeve Robertson said the donation was a major contribution to keep NSRI services running.
