Thousands of parents and learners are expected to take to the streets of Uitenhage on Wednesday to demand more teachers.
This week angry and frustrated parents closed 16 schools in the western parts of Uitenhage to force the Education Department's hand.
School Governing Body spokesperson, Lourens Mostert, outlines some of their demands.
"We want temporary teachers to get paid from by the Department because teachers are being paid by governing bodies and they are not being re-imbursed. At many schools there are no teachers resulting in children sitting outside of classrooms .
Meanwhile, parents and learners from Port Elizabeth's David Livingstone High School in Schauderville will hold a march on Thursday.
School governing body chairperson, Marcus Klate, says the school is also facing a shortage of teachers while some temporary teachers have also not been paid.
He says they will present a memorandum of demands to the Department of Education.
