Uitenhage man jumps off Van Stadens bridge

 A 43-year-old Uitenhage man has become the 86th person to jump off the Van Stadens bridge.

Police warrant officer Gerda Swart says the man's identity is being withheld until his next of kin have been informed.

She says a passing motorist witnessed the man walk to the middle of the bridge shortly after eight o'clock on Monday morning and jump over the edge.

The man's car was found parked near the bridge.
