A 37-year-old Uitenhage farmer made a brief appearance in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after being arrested in connection with the shooting of roaming cattle last week in which eight of the animals died and three were wounded.
Sergeant Majola Nkohli says police detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the incident on Monday.
Carlo Andries Voigt faces charges of malicious injury to property, contravention of the Animals Protection Act and illegally discharging a firearm.
The case was postponed for further investigation and Voigt was released on a warning.
He was ordered to be back in court on the 4th of July for further investigation and while police await a ballistics report.
