A 28-year-old Uitenhage man has been acquitted of murder in the Port Elizabeth High Court.
Judge Murray Lowe said today that the state had failed to prove that 28-year-old Eugene Steenkamp had ordered the killing of 22-year-old rugby player, Chauvandre' Mintoor.
He said the state witnesses had been unreliable and inconsistent.
Judge Lowe said that this had left Benedict Swarts, as the single witness to the killing.
Swarts has already been sentenced to life for shooting Mintoor in 2010.
