The Nelson Mandela Bay municipality has sent random water samples, taken throughout the distribution system, for analysis by an independent laboratory.
The samples were taken during Water Week which ran from the 18th to the 24th of March.
The Infrastructure and Engineering Directorate states in a report that recent media reports regarding the quality of the drinking water in the Metro have raised questions around the credibility of the sampling results reported by the municipal laboratory.
The report says the micro-biological results were acceptable, and the chemical results excellent, and in both cases no intervention was required other than normal operational adjustments.
