Uitenhage cops make "khat" bust

Members of Uitenhage's Highway Patrol and K-9 unit have arrested four suspects for being in possession of the drug known as khat.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Gerda Swart, said the members became suspicious when they noticed the driver of an Opel Corsa off-loading boxes from a truck on Friday.

She said upon further investigation police discovered boxes containing the khat in the vehicle and on the truck.

Swart said police impounded the vehicle and arrested the suspects who will appear in court on Monday.
