Uitenhage cops appeal for help in murder probe

Police in Kamesh, Uitenhage, are appealing for help in tracking down the killers of a local man.

Police spokesperson, warrant officer Gerda Swart, says the body of 26-year-old Benjamin Christoffel of Rosedale, was found on Saturday morning with multiple stab wounds.

He was admitted to hospital but died the same day.

Swart says no arrests have been made as yet, but police are following up several leads.

She says anyone who might be able to assist can contact the Kamesh police.

Meanwhile, police in Mdantsane Cluster in East London have arrested fifty suspects for various crimes during weekend operations.

Police spokesperson, lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku, says these crimes ranges from, possession of dagga, selling liquor without a valid liquor licence and drunken driving, to the possession of suspected stolen goods.

He says during the operations police also raided several illegal sheebens and drug outlets in the Mdantsane cluster.

Mzuku says the suspects, aged between 20 and 55, will appear in court next week
